How to Send Money Using Moneygram from Nigeria

One convenient yet reliable means of sending money from Nigeria to other countries is through MoneyGram. Unlike bank wires, MoneyGram shields you from high transfer fees and delivers money to recipients in Nigeria within ten minutes. Here are the procedures on how to send money using MoneyGram.

Send Money Using MoneyGram in Person

  • First, visit your bank.We have provided a list of banks that offer MoneyGram Services in Nigeria.
  • The requirements needed to send money are:
  • Sender’s name, phone number and address. If you are sending money from your account, your bank already has this information.
  • The receiver’s name and country (the city should be included).
  •  Amount in Naira based on the exchange rate provided by the bank. If you wish to send 1,000 dollars, you will be required to pay the equivalent in Naira.
  • Valid means of identification such as international passport, driver’s license, permanent voters card, national identity card and bank verification number (BVN). This applies if you do not have an account with the bank.
  • Test question and answer, where applicable
  • Complete a send form

Send Money Using MoneyGram to a Bank Account

  • Find a moneyGram agent location in Nigeria, usually in bank locations. See Bank List.
  • Present required documents for acceptable means of identification such as international passport, driver’s license, permanent voters card, national identity card and bvn.
  • Provide the Receiver’s name as seen in his/her I.D card, the receiver’s bank account name and account number, the receiver’s location, the amount in naira and the transfer fee.
  • Complete the send form, where applicable and notify the recipient of the transaction.
  • Share the 8-digit reference number to the recipient of the money.
  • Money is automatically sent to receivers account.

Note: You can only send funds on a person to person basis as stipulated by CBN. Hence, funds cannot be sent as a company or to a company.

Send Money Using MoneyGram Online

  • Go to moneyGram.com to start your transaction
  • Choose a receiver – the full name of the recipient, the receiver’s location(country, state), how they want to receive the money (through cash pickups or directly through the bank accounts) and the amount you are paying.
  • You can either pay through credit cards, debit cards or through bank accounts.
  • A test and answer question would be given to identify your identity.
  • Review and send.

MoneyGram Send Limits

The maximum send limit is $6,000 per 30 days for a customer, as directed by the Central Bank of Nigeria. The equivalent of this amount is 5500 Euro and 4600 pounds.
